A movement to educate about AI risk and inspire action around the world.

What we do?

AI is becoming a significant part of everyday life. As it continues to advance at an accelerating rate, one crucial thing is being left out of the conversation: AI risk.

There’s Always One is a movement to educate the world about AI risk, bring marginalized voices into the global conversation, and help create a future where AI risk is significantly reduced.

Through awareness raising, advocacy, and ensuring AI risk is an inclusive global conversation, we aim to empower the world to decide its future regarding AI.

Our Vision

Let the world decide its future regarding AI.

Principles?

The world of AI moves fast, and there are significant unknowns as we navigate this new technology and the impact it will have on all our lives, probably forevermore.

With such a big topic comes many different ideas and opinions on AI development, use, regulation, and potential threat. Even people who might believe in the same principles when it comes to AI, for example the need for AI safety, may disagree a lot about the specifics.

The following principles guide the work of There's Always One, helping us establish common ground, and a base we can all agree on. These are our views on the current state of AI, especially AI risk, and how we approach the topic.

  • With its current trajectory, there’s a significant chance that AI could replace all jobs (where being human isn’t a pre-requisite/essential).
  • Technological advancement does not necessarily equate to better lives
  • We’re more focused on advancing scientifically than societally.
  • The future of the world shouldn’t be decided by a small number of people in the West.
  • The outcome of AI will depend on our collective action
  • We don’t want to alienate anyone, we want to bring them with us

Our Mission

Bring AI risk knowledge to the 99%.

What’s in the name?

In the classic 1957 film, 12 Angry Men, Juror #8 dissents when the rest of his peers confidently vote to find a young man guilty of murder; a decision that would mean sending the accused to his death. ‘There’s always one,’ exclaims one of the other jurors.

As the film progresses, each of the jurors, one by one, change their vote from guilty to not guilty when presented with new information that challenges what they thought they already knew.

The right argument might not always be the most popular. But if there’s even just one person pushing for what’s right, there is a chance for change. We believe the same is true when it comes to educating about AI risk.
